Segment 1:  The Cost of NSA Surveillance
with Danielle Kehl of the New America Foundation

Danielle Kehl is a policy analyst at New America’s Open Technology Institute, where she researches and writes about technology policy and how it intersects with broader domestic and foreign policy issues. Her current areas of focus are Internet freedom and the impact of U.S. broadband policies on communities and consumers. Her writing has been published by a number of outlets, including CNN, Slate, The Hill, FortuneThe Chronicle of Higher Education, and the Journal of Information Policy.

Before coming to New America, Danielle worked at Access (, an international NGO which advocates for digital human rights. Prior to that, she was a Fulbright Fellow in Rwanda, where she taught English at a nursing college and assisted with community development projects in the town of Rwamagana. She graduated cum laude from Yale University with a B.A. in history, concentrating her studies on political and social movements in the 20th century. She has also interned at the Council on Foreign Relations and worked as a research assistant at the Center for the Study of American Politics and the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale.
